Exterior lights can attract pests. Try to avoid lights too close to your home. Additionally, install orange- or yellow-colored lights, as insects are not as attracted to these two colors.

Inspect your foundation and all walls for existing cracks. There are usually certain fissures or cracks in a structure after many years of wear and tear. Pests are often quite small, and can get into your home through even the tiniest of cracks. Look at your ceiling as well. Pests commonly enter this way.

If you have a bug problem, invest in a lot of caulk to seal every crack in your home. Foggers and sprays are unable to penetrate walls and behind the cabinets where bugs like to live and hide. So, seal these areas off to prevent bugs. Use caulk around drain entry points, at molding spaces and any other small areas where bug can come in.

Speak with your neighbors for different techniques in getting rid of pests. Perhaps your neighbor is also having a mouse problem. They may have insights that you lack. You can let your neighbor know beforehand about any issues he may possibly have.

If you notice spiders inside your home, you should know they are more than likely feeding on other bugs. Dust and sweep frequently to cut down on these issues. This not only keeps your critter population manageable, it reduces the total number of spiders that you have to deal with.
